About Us

Bill and Julie Bailey are founders of Bailey Farm and Gardens. Julie and Bill, along with their children, are members of the Roswell Presbyterian Church and are actively involved with the public schools in Northwest Fulton as official community partners with Crabapple Crossing Elementary, Summit Hill Elementary, Northwestern Middle School and Milton High School. They also are active participants in the local PTA’s, School Councils and Environmental Education Committees.

Bailey Farm & Gardens is involved with many environmental and civic organizations, including the Georgia Wildlife Federation, the Environmental Education Alliance of Georgia, the Georgia Native Plant Society, the Birmingham Hopewell Alliance and the Little River Valley Association.

Bill Bailey, founder of Bailey Farm & Gardens, has been involved with agriculture his whole life. He grew up in a citrus farming family, and has owned and operated groves.

Bill has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida and an MBA from Georgia State University. After attaining corporate success, he found himself increasingly drawn back to what had remained his lifelong passion: all things horticultural.

So in 1988 he began pouring his expertise and energy into building not just a landscaping company, but something truly unique: an ecologically friendly resource that encompasses a broad range of horticultural services, including the propagation of unique plants and environmental education.

The company has won rave reviews on the landscapes and natural habitats it has created throughout its now expanded 27 acre sanctuary on Hickory Flat Road, as well as those the firm has designed, installed and maintained throughout the area.

Bill is an experienced and knowledgeable horticulturist, gardener and informal educator. He has expanded his studies of horticulture through programs with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and recently was accepted (selected from nearly 100 applicants) into the coveted Georgia Master Gardener program.

Julie Zahner Bailey has a diverse educational and professional background. Julie loves all things horticultural and especially enjoys educating audiences of all ages. Julie excels in bringing environmental education to young people including scout troops, church youth groups, camps or schools.

She is an enthusiastic teacher who is able to capture her audience while also imparting important knowledge about water quality, the environment, wildlife habitats, land use and so much more. Students respond to Julie’s hands-on learning approaches and her infectious love of nature and education. She has a passion for young people and the world in which they live and it shows in all that she does. Customized environmental education programs and tours are created to meet the specific needs of each organization and group and can be provided on site at Bailey Farm & Gardens, or the programs can come to you.

Julie also volunteers a tremendous amount of time as a board member and Executive Director of the Birmingham Hopewell Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to appropriate land use in Northwest Fulton. She has been instrumental in the organization's expansion since 1997.

Julie has had extensive involvement in a variety of land planning initiatives including the Birmingham Crossroads Master Plan, the Northwest Fulton Overlay, the Rural Preservation Plan, various ordinances, policies and zoning amendments and multiple rezonings throughout NW Fulton. She has developed an extensive network of contacts with County officials -- including other jurisdictions -- staff and land use experts, serving as Commission Chair Mike Kenn's appointee on the Heritage Preservation Advisory Board (now the Design Review Board) as well as one of Commissioner Bob Fulton's appointees on the Rural Preservation Steering Committee.

She serves on Commissioner Lynne Riley’s District 3 Leader’s Advisory Group and Commission Chair Karen Handel’s North Fulton’s Steering Committee. Her dedication to the community and the area is a natural extension of her commitment to be a good steward of our world and the environment. Julie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Finance from Florida State University. Her professional career has included working for Southeast Bank in Miami, Citibank Leveraged Capital in Atlanta, and Equifax, where she was an assistant vice president in charge of product development, market research and strategic development.

Julie grew up in Sandy Springs, but has lived in the Birmingham community since 1988 with Bill and their two children, Savannah and Zachary. In addition to being the co-owner of Bailey Farm & Gardens, Julie also substitute teaches in the local schools.
